Most resort areas have water parks to cool off in and many holiday spots boast theme parks with their sophisticated white-knuckle rides.
Where to....
Costa Dorada Salou is home to the Port Aventura Theme Park, about 1 hour’s drive from Barcelona. The park is part of the Universal Mediterranea Resort which includes the Costa Caribe Aquapark.
Costa Blanca Benidorm hosts the Terra Mitica Theme Park and is made up of 5 zones, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and The Islands. Aqualandia is also a great family day out.
Costa de la Luz Isla Magica in Seville, inland, is a thrilling adventure with unique rides and legendary characters. Exotic restaurants and a daily programme of entertainment make it enjoyable for the whole family.
Barcelona Visit Zoo de Barcelona, Parc de la Ciutadella. Meet the animals, watch the shows and enjoy a picnic at this wonderful Zoo. L’Aquarium de Barcelona wows its visitors with an 80 metre glass tunnel through a shark tank! Smaller children may prefer an upstairs touching pool.
Majorca The water park in Avinguda Tucan near Alcudia in the north of the island is a popular family day out, as are the three mini golf courses.
Palma Nova in the south is a lively resort and hosts nearby marineland, Golf Fantasia, Western Park and Aqaupark. Cala d’Or offers mini golf and entertainment for children and a replica San Francisco tram links Soller to the coastal resort of Port Soller from where coastal boat trips are available.
Menorca The Aqua Centre water park in Cala’n Forcat, near Cuidadella is one of many reasons why Menorca is arguably the best family destinations of all.
The prehistoric caves all around the island will also give visitors a memorable experience on their visit and are one of the islands most popular attractions, as does Monte Toro, the highest point on the island.
Ibiza San Antonia Bay is a good base from which to visit the islands caves to the north, the most popular being the Aquario Cap Blanc natural cave. Other popular activities in the town include horse riding, mini golf and bowling. The eastern resort of Santa Eulalia has a tourist train and nearby San José offers paintballing, quad bikes and bowling.
Tenerife Playa de Las Americas is a lively resort offering an eagle park, cactus and animal park, dolphinarium and camel park. Visitors can also enjoy tennis, mini golf, bowling and watersports.
Lanzarote The quiet fishing village of Playa Blanca offers visitors a huge range of family activities. The most popular include the tropical animal park, camel rides, jeep safaris, horse riding and Fire Mountain.
Costa Teguise on the east coast is home to the Ocean Water Park. A horse riding centre also attracts a wealth of visitors.
The Timan Fayor National Park consists of a relatively recently formed volcanic mountain fro the 18th and 19th centuries and occupies over 5,000 hectares.
Fuerteventura The main town, Corralejo in the north of the island boasts vast unspoilt beaches and the surrounding sand dunes are a fascinating attraction.
The eastern town of Caleta de Fuste offer Catamaran trips, a submarine tour and a zoo.
Camel riding is available in the southern town of Jandia.
Gran Canaria The lively town Playa del Ingles is near Maspalomas sand dunes, Palmitos Parque bird gardens and Holiday World. Just a sample of things to keep the family entertained!
