La Gomera is a little known and rugged Island, but also a botanical delight. You can get there by boat from Tenerife, and at only 20 km long, it is a nature lovers paradise with deep ravines, lush vegetation and fantastic cliffs. San Sebastian de la Gomera is the capital, with only around 6,000 inhabitants. Wander round its interesting monuments and visit the old fortress here. The Parque Nacional de Garajonay is a UNESCO world heritage site.
