Feurteventura is the 2nd largest of the Canaries and has some of the best beaches, with golden sands (sand was blown in from the Sahara). The North West of the Island is renowned to be very windy. The main roads are pretty good, so getting around is easy. Only a narrow channel of water separates it from the African Continent, and the cultural crossover is apparent here in the Moorish architecture. Overall, life here gently rolls along and it the ultimate in beach relaxation. There is also plenty to amuse Sailors, Big Game Fishermen and Scuba Divers across the crystal clear waters.
Caleta de Fuste, 20 mins from the airport, is a family resort with a beach, restaurant’s, shops and a port. You can take a trip to Pozo Negro for some snorkelling from here. Activities here include Golf, tennis and a riding school.
Correlejo, in the East, is a former fishing port – now the Island’s main resort.
Costa Calma is a sheltered Coast – great for couples and families.
Jandia, in the south has a backdrop of volcanic mountains and has superb surfing conditions. In the evening, enjoy a fantastic fish supper and a few nighcap’s – the nightlife is generally laid back here.
